ARC provided by publisher in exchange for an honest review I m always on the lookout for a new Urban Fantasy series to read, and when I read the blurb of A Glimmer of Hope I was intrigued The thing with first books in a new series is, that there is a lot of information you have to take in as a reader You are introduced to a new world and have to get used to the writing style of the author I liked the beginning and was looking forward to seeing what would happen to Layla She is attacked and broug [...]

A Glimmer of Hope definitely had the snow ball effect for me It starts out pretty dark, bloody and a bit slow to engage me but soon I found myself caught up the avalanche of mayhem, murder and mystery I received this ARC copy of A Glimmer of Hope from 47North This is my honest and voluntary review A Glimmer of Hope is set for publication April 1, 2018.

High octane action and pure fun This is amazing right outta the gate Hit the ground running and never stopped Monsters, mythology, and ancient scrolls I m giving the author a high five here Layla Cassidy s life is forever changed when she stumbles upon an ancient scroll She s now on the run and doesn t know who to trust or what to believe The secondary characters are awesomesauce Mr McHugh does an astounding job of giving each of them uniqueness and depth The monsters are detailed vividly, and y [...]

Thank you netgalley for providing me with the ARC of GlimmerOfHope by stevemc79 Layla Cassidy wants a normal life, far from the sins of her father Other than dealing with some understandable anger issues, everything is going pretty well for Layla That is until her whereabouts become known to a group of vicious people who want to use her to get to her father I read the synopsis for the book and went in with high hopes The story line was interesting but it just missed the mark for me I didn t real [...]

This is an urban fantasy with a richly developed world filled with a secret society that rules it all, werewolves, ogres, red caps, and other creatures pulled from mythology Layla gets pulled into this world when she is kidnapped by Elias Wells, the red cap, and in an escape attempt bleeds on a scroll which causes her to inherit the demon trapped in it and the three other persons who previously held the scroll.Layla has been laying low, attending university, and taking MMA classes Her father is [...]

I received this book as an ARC from the publisher through NetGalley in exchange for an honest review.4 I haven t read the Hellequin Chronicles, which made me a perfect stranger to this world It was a really good story, with loads of action and plenty of nerdiness I really liked Layla She was strong and didn t need anyone to fight in her place She also didn t need a guy to make her better and she was pretty interesting all on her own. There were some iffy moments, such as a shaming hint to BDSM wh [...]

GreatSteve McHugh does a wonderful job in this foray into the expanded Avalon world Quick witted and fast paced, the story of Layla takes off like a shot The writing is smooth, the editing is spot on and the tone is a perfect introduction for the Avalon Chronicles And this is an ideal jumping point to introduce new readers to the Hellequin series Seriously if you haven t read Hellequin go do that, Crimes Against Magic is very similar in style and the rest of the series is just as awesome Go expl [...]

This is not a Nate story , its Layla sI ve read all of Steve McHugh s books As a spin off Glimmer is ok It follows the story of Layla a human who is on the run Her jailed father is a serial killer of serial killers doesn t really sound like a bad guy A shadow organization who want to overthrow Avalon need to use Layla to blackmail her father into working for them To do that they kidnap her During the process of escaping she activates a spirit s scroll to escape from a horrible monster a blood el [...]

Exciting new storylinePhenomenal character building Incredible storyline At 4% into this book, I was already thrilled knowing there are books coming Author definitely knows appreciates the psyche of strong women The personalities of all of the characters are written well, and are believable My favourite line it would be unlike me Enjoyed the appearance of so many characters from the beloved Hellequin series The teaming up of those characters with Layla s journey is a delight to read I m really [...]

The story continuesI enjoyed reading this book as much as Steve s other books The book carried the reader me with the story line I find that whilst many of the characters were present in Helliquin adventures, this book bridged the two series well Chloe and layla, their friendship grows, then has a trust hiccup Layla, no matter her daddy issues becomes a heroin in that she gets the existence of a supernatural world dumped on her not only that she has 2 spirits and a demon all sharing her headspac [...]

I received a copy of A Glimmer of Hope by Steve McHugh from the publisher via NetGalley in exchange for an honest review.I was intrigued by the summary and really wanted to like this novel, but the storyline could have been pulled together better and the characters developed less flat It was a struggle to continue reading several times.I would try and read another book by the author in the future to see if the pacing of plot development and characterization improves, but would not recommend thi [...]

Downloaded early from Kindle first I can safely say I will fall in love with this series The main character is kick ass, and I like how you ve got both sides of the story good and bad, it makes a change and mixes things up a little From start to finish I loved everything about this book I will say the traumatic backgrounds did feel a little forced coming across but apart from that it s a really good read.

    Richard

A MUST READ Spoiler Alert It took a little while to get used to the characters in the Avalon universe and the ones we were introduced to were older, but this works I loved it I liked that she struggled a little like Nate did in the first book, but that the weird upbringing helped her adjust faster than she should have Overall, great book Looking forward to the next one already

    Nicky Krogen

Bloody good read I got this book free via Prime s first day of the month freebie plan, and I m so glad I did It s nice to have a funny, thrilling and different type of fantasy book, all set in my home country, as opposed to the glut of admittedly awesome ,stuff set in the US getting all of the cultural references made a welcome change
